Matteo Mauro
Matteo Mauro was born in Sicily in 1992. In 2010, he moved to London, where he came into contact with the contemporary art world. He studied art and architecture and graduated from University College London in 2017. In this period, he was trained by prominent figures, including historians, artists, and designers such as Oliver Domeisen, Isaie Bloch, and Ron Arad. Since 2016, he has been refining his tools of artistic expression, exploring representational computational techniques with which he reinterprets traditional, classical, and primitive methods of printmaking. His inscriptions on aluminum attract the attention of critics and researchers in the UCL research department, who reward him for the innovation of his work. In the following years, his works receive numerous international awards for their unprecedented technique, including the 2018 Master of Art and the International Van Gogh Prize, awarded to him by Roy Dalí, son of Salvador Dalí. In 2017, he founded the Matteo Mauro Studio. He is known for the generative art series Micromegalic Inscriptions, whose research was published in 2018 in the globally distributed book of the same name. From 2020, he integrates, into his being an everyday artist, sculptural practice. In 2021, he experiments with the art world on the blockchain, becoming, according to Forbes, one of the rising stars of this movement. His works are collected by some of the most important art funds. He collaborated with the Lamborghini family to create celebratory works for their museum. In 2022, he collaborates with Cortesi Gallery in Lugano and Milan. From 2024, he returned to Italy, settling in Milan, where he meets people who understand and value his work, including Pietro Monopoli, Flaminio Gualdoni, and Ida Pisani. With the latter, he began an intense collaboration and representation within Prometeo Gallery.
His works have been exhibited in prestigious institutions, including: Royal Academy of Arts, MACS, Triennale di Milano, Marte Museum, MEAM, Museo della Fabbrica, Dubai Design District, IMACUM Mexicali, LAC Lugano, Qianjiang International Art Museum, Datong Museum, Salon des Indépendants at Grand Palais. His art has been featured for years in major art fairs at an international level, including Arco Madrid, Artissima, Artefiera Bologna, Miart.
