Edson Luli
Edson Luli (b. 1989, Scutari) is a contemporary artist currently based in Milan
Luli interrogates the ways in which human perception and cultural conditioning influence our understanding of nature and the reality that surrounds us. His work weaves together the conceptual threads of time, human behaviour, cybernetics and environmental consciousness. Through an interdisciplinary research including environmental science, cognitive psychology, and systems theory and use of various materials in various mediums that span from installations, digital media, and sculptural works to video and print, Luli prompts audiences to reflect on the ephemeral nature of existence and the impact of human actions and technology on society and environment and thus the necessity for a new ecology of mind.
At the heart of Luli’s work is a deep concern with the nature of thought and its processes in shaping our world. For Luli, thought is an abstraction of reality thus a limitation constantly applied to our model of reality resulting in continuous conflict with it.
Luli's artworks invite viewers to participate in a process of exploration and observation, probing the boundaries of what it means to think and perceive in a complex and rapidly changing world and questioning how we evaluate our inner lives and that of others in order to create and experiment new mental maps that structurally match the territory.
Luli’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, amongst them: 3500 cm2 curated by Lorenzo Benedetti (upcoming); HOMEWARD, curated by Niovi Zarampouka-Chatzimanou, Luçjan Bedeni, Tea Paci, Zef Paci, Art House School, various venues, Shkoder, Albania.
